Well August is nearly over and with it, the last hint of winter. Spring is always a lovely time of year wherever you are, but in Toowoomba it’s especially nice as it is also the month of the Carnival of Flowers.
August has been a great month for me. I am all settled in again after our overseas trip and have been able to make a start on the many projects I’d been dreaming about the whole time we were away. Once the jet lag passed, it was nice to be home and get back into the regular routine. Even though this meant going back to my commute and spending several nights per week away from my husband (which was tough after spending an entire month together on our honeymoon), I was glad to be back into the swing of things.
I have been getting heavily into the decluttering this month and it feels GREAT! Although we had been working on this before, it was quite slow progress as there was just so much going on. In truth, it wasn’t just that time was in short supply but it was also that I didn’t have the mental energy to really devote to curating my belongings when so much energy and emotion was being directed towards the wedding and the honeymoon planning. Now that those two major life events are over, and I have been refreshed and renewed by our trip, I have felt that I had the brain space to truly focus on decluttering. I find it such a powerful act of self-care. I know that for some people it makes them feel abundant and plentiful but having too many possessions really stresses me out. I find it calming to have less — in truth I’m a bit of a minimalist. But its surprising how much and how quickly we accumulate and over the last year or so of combining households and then downsizing, it was clear we had too much stuff! We’ve made great progress but there is still a long way to go, yet and I’m sure that this curating will continue to be a theme for me in September. What about you? Are you going to be spring cleaning? I highly recommend it, it’s a great way to refresh your space and welcome in the new season.
The big news for The Harmony Agenda in August is that for the first time I attended an event as a business woman. On Saturday 15 August I was a stallholder at the second Toowoomba Women’s Wellness Seminar, run by Viki Thondley of Mind Body Food. The topic for this event was anxiety and depression and Viki and the guest speakers shared loads of excellent information on mind, body and spirit practices to help treat these conditions. It was such a great event and hello to all the new subscribers who signed up on the day.
I had promised to give away a Self-Care Matters e-course pass to one of the new subscribers on the day and I’m pleased to announce that instead of one I’m giving away THREE! The lucky winners were announced via email today! Congratulations ladies, here’s to your health and wellbeing. It all starts with self-care! Keep an eye on your inboxes for more detail.
September is only 2 days away and that means it’s also only 2 days until the e-course begins. There are still a few places available if you would like to participate in the first intake. Give me a call and I can give you the details. I will be running it again in November so if you miss out on a place this time, I’ll keep your name on the waiting list for the next intake.
The end of winter also means we’re about to start ‘Self-Care September’ again. Head on over to the blog to learn all about it. Follow The Harmony Agenda on Facebook and use the hashtag #selfcareseptember to connect with others taking the challenge of doing at least one act of kindness towards the self daily.
Well, that’s it from me for this month. I look forward to another busy and self-care filled month ahead.
